THE DETAILS

Ok...some time has gone by and I'm outwardly more calm. I can explain a little.

Scrap~N~Crap, my daughter's scrapbooking store, is now closed. It opened on September 11th, 2009 and closed December 22 (or something like that).

We knew we wouldn't have rent money past December but then the business partner turned off the cash register software (Checkout) so we couldn't have stayed open till Christmas anyway. We has planned on closing Christmas Eve. So, a couple of extra days didn't really matter. We were only getting a couple of people in each day for the past several weeks. It was costing more in utilities to keep the store open than we took in.

We are all sad and a good friendship has gone up in smoke. There is tons of blame being tossed back and forth and no one is happy. The thing is, if things were handled differently, it could have been a great store and we just might have made it.

So, now we have to deal with lawyers and bankruptcy and bitterness.

Oh well! A new year means a new beginning anyway.

Thanks for listening.

NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS???

Well, not always and not in this case. I can't go into details at the moment but this December will go down in the books as the most upsetting month of the year. We've gone from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows in 4 short (or long) months.

I am around and will be around. Rumor has it that I might have to find a part time job come the new year...good luck to me! Not many jobs around and probably not many that I will am qualified for. I don't mind having an outside job but I hope it's at least one that I can enjoy.

That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by.

LATEST LAYOUTS

I seem to be getting more done at the store than at home. Here are my latest layouts. Actually, I revised the one of my parents...I like it much better now that I put the crochet doily on the layout.

this is the first version

this is the revised and final result. Just loved the feel of this Kaiser paper with this photo.

these pics of Frank and me were taken in a photo booth at a wedding we went to this year. We got kinda silly with it. But Frank made me "promise" not to show them to anyone. So, of course I had to scrap them! :0)

This is Nathan, my sister's grandson. All I can say is that she is one brave grandma!

Then, of course I had to add another layout of Tracy to the album I'm doing for her. These pics were taken on her 1st birthday - after the cake. I had never used Bam Pop paper before but the jelly fist just fit here. Backed it up with Crate Paper die cut and a Glitz grid.

BLANK JOURNAL BOOKS

I've been just a little busy lately. The store has taken up quite a bit of my free time, but I still found time to create some new blank journals. You can find them on my Etsy site: embellishmeagain.etsy.com. They're all very reasonable at $9.99 each. Complete descriptions are on Etsy. New books are on their way. Each one is one of a kind! Hope you stop by!

Thanks!

WORK BENEFITS

One of the benefits of working at Scrap~N~Crap is that I am able to do a little scrapping in between customers! I didn't do these in 1 day...several weeks.

HALLMARK...EAT YOUR HEART OUT!

The second Wednesday in the month can only mean one thing...Red Hots Night! This month was my turn to arrange the evening. I decided to make good use of the crop room at Tracy's store, Scrap~N~Crap.

November is a busy month for Red Hots with 3 birthdays...alas one birthday girl was MIA...Missed you, Sharon.
I planned an evening of holiday card making since the holiday season was upon us. Everyone had lots of great, original ideas. I'm glad they didn't just copy one of the examples, but were just inspired by them...just what I planned!

The final results! What a creative bunch we are.

Thanks, ladies, for a fun and successful evening!

Keep On Scrappin'

Went shopping at Scrap~N~Crap this morning. Now, I have some great materials to work with today. YAY!

But I did do some scrapping yesterday (yes, even though I was babysitting!)

This one is for OLW - the word is "gratitude". I may be late submitting it but every time I go to their website, right now, my computer freezes!

I wrote my journaling down the side: "Thanks to my parents I got my start with love, pride, understanding, morals, priorities and assistance...A great sart to pass along to my own family. Eternally"

This one is for the These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things challenge...your favorite season.

The words at the bottom are: "crisp, breezy, cool, pumpkins, color, Halloween, leaves"

ETSY UPDATES

I've been a busy little girl lately so I haven't posted much. Oops.

But, once again, I've added to my Etsy shop...

Traveling Along Embellishment Kit

Owl Journaling Spots with some little owls

Traveling Journaling Spots

Art Journal filled with heavyweight Watercolor Paper

And finally, I found these cute miniature cookie cutters so I added one to the "What's Cookin'?" Kit along with some older paper recipe cards.

I've also decided to begin a 6-8 week knitting class. I've finished up 3 sets of those slipper booties and am now attempting an "easy" sweater. That combined with babysitting 2 days a week, various doctor/dentist appointments & tests ( bone density this week) and I've not much time left for scrapping. I did, however, finish a little mini for Tracy & Kimber's store..."The Little Store that Could".

Now, I finally get to start on scrapping/journaling our trip to the Pacific North West. (Plus I'm trying to downsize the clutter...good luck with that!)

Thanks for stopping by...and please stop by my Etsy shop!

NEW STUFF

I think my knitting is coming along just fine. Actually, I'm pretty proud of myself. I found an easy beginners pattern for these booties. I had never knitted with really bulky yarn...it was tricky but I learned a lot. They are Sooooooooooooooooo soft!! Now I'm making another pair for my little 4 year old friend. I even let her pick out the yarn.

The next 3 layouts were made with papers that I bought from Tracy's new store,
Scrap~N~Crap. They are all My Mind's Eye and Fancy Pants papers. The first 2 are from Halloweens past and the 3rd is of my sister and me from one of our cruises.

It's hard to believe that this empty store, a few weeks ago...
Is full of such fun supplies today!

Looking forward to more inventory coming in this week! I had fun working in the store this weekend. From here on in I am on an on-call basis. But, I'm sure I'll still be around.
